What is Osteopathy?

Treatment That Works With Your Whole Body

Osteopathy is a hands-on form of manual therapy that focuses on the relationship between the body's structure and its function. Osteopaths assess and treat muscles, joints, and connective tissue to find and address the root cause of your symptoms.

At Optimum Wellbeing Centre, your osteopath will take a thorough health history before beginning any treatment. Every appointment is built around your specific needs. Your history, your body, your goals.

Osteopathy may assist with a wide range of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system. Our practitioners work with patients of all ages and activity levels across the Gold Coast.

How We Treat

Your osteopath draws from a range of techniques based on what your body needs that day — not every technique is used in every appointment.

Soft Tissue Therapy

Hands-on massage and stretching techniques to release tension in muscles and fascia.

Joint Articulation

Gentle, rhythmic movements to improve joint range of motion and reduce stiffness.

High-Velocity Thrust (HVT)

A precise, controlled technique applied to restore normal joint movement. Applied only where appropriate.

Dry Needling

Fine needles used to release myofascial trigger points and reduce localised muscle tension.

Exercise Rehabilitation

Tailored exercise programs to support recovery and prevent recurrence.

Shockwave Therapy

Uses advanced Guided DolorClast® technology from Switzerland to stimulate the body's natural healing response and relieve pain. This non-invasive treatment is highly effective for tendon injuries, plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain, tennis elbow and many other musculoskeletal conditions. Combined with your osteopathic treatment and rehabilitation exercises, it helps accelerate recovery without surgery or injections.

High-Power Laser Therapy

A safe, non-invasive treatment that uses therapeutic light energy to reduce pain, decrease inflammation and promote tissue repair. Ideal for muscle, tendon and joint injuries, it supports faster healing and improved movement. When combined with osteopathic care, it helps you recover more comfortably and return to your daily activities sooner.

Dry Needling

Targeted Relief for Stubborn Pain

Dry needling is a technique that may be used by our osteopaths and myotherapist during your treatment to target tight muscle tissue known as trigger points. A fine, sterile needle is inserted directly into the affected area, prompting the muscle to release and reducing referred pain.

Dry needling is grounded in western musculoskeletal anatomy. It may assist with muscle tension, nerve irritation, and persistent tightness that has not responded to other manual techniques.
